Maca root extract or maca powder: what is the difference on the label?
An extract is a concentrate and a powder is the ground root, so the two are different formulas with different fill weights. A ratio of 10:1 means ten parts of raw root went into one part of extract, and one capsule of the extract formula holds 250 mg of it. A capsule of root powder carries the ground plant, at a strength confirmed in our reply.

Can maca capsules go into a blister of any size?
Yes. A capsule of any size goes into a blister: the current tooling on the Uhlmann B 1240 takes capsules of size 0 long, 0 and 00, and if yours is outside that, a forming set is made for it. The lead time and price of a set are confirmed in our reply. Capsules are gelatine or vegan HPMC.

Which blister film suits maca capsules?
PVC, PVC/PVDC and cold-formed aluminium (alu-alu) are offered, and the film is confirmed in our reply once the formula and the capsule size are known. The deciding points are moisture uptake of the fill and cavity depth.
On the Uhlmann B 1240 the cavity can be up to 24 mm deep in PVC and up to 10 mm in aluminium, so a long capsule can fit one film and not the other. PVC/PVDC adds barrier to PVC, and alu-alu is the highest-barrier class of the three. Figures and sources: blister films.
How do I show the maca dose on the label?
Print the extract amount in milligrams per capsule or per daily portion, with the ratio. Maca has no nutrient reference value in Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex XIII, Part A, which lists vitamins and minerals, so the label carries milligrams and no %NRV.
The portion is the one your carton recommends for a day. That is why the four-ingredient blend is printed for 3 capsules, the serving. You approve the artwork before print.
Can I sell maca supplements in my country?
The authority of the country of sale sets the status of a plant extract and any limit per portion, and your importer confirms both before artwork is approved. What documents come with each batch of maca capsules?
A Certificate of Analysis and a specification. The carton shows batch number, production date and expiry date, with 24 months of shelf life as standard. Copies of the ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates, and the FDA registration, go to clients on request.
For the destination file, export documents are arranged as the market asks: Certificate of Free Sale, Certificate of Manufacture, apostille and consular legalisation.
