Can I start a supplement brand with 100 units?
Yes, on a ready-made formula: it starts from 100 units in stock packaging, while a formula of your own starts from 500 bottles per product. The first order can stay this small because there is no development in it; the plant already makes the formula, and your order adds your brand to it. That keeps the stock you hold modest while the first sales come in.
Powders, sachets, sports nutrition, syrups and oils have their minimums in kilograms or litres; ask us for the figure for your format. A blister run is counted differently: it starts from 2,000 cartons, at least 4,000 blisters, on a ready-made formula or your own.
Which ready-made formulas can be packed in blisters?
Ready-made formulas made as tablets, capsules or softgels can be sealed in blisters with a printed carton as well as filled into a bottle when the tablet or capsule fits the tooling in place, and the product itself settles which of the two suits it. A blister run starts from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks, and each carton holds 1 to 4 blisters. The lidding foil is printed for your brand, and the expiry date goes on the carton, printed with it or applied as the blisters are cartoned.
Blister tooling is in place for oval tablets of 22 × 10, 20 × 9.5 and 16 × 8 mm, round tablets of 13, 12 and 11 mm, and capsules in sizes 0 long (0EL), 0 and 00. A blister of your own design, or a tablet or capsule in another size, starts from 25,000 cartons or 50,000 blisters, on terms agreed per project.
What does a blister add to a white label product?
A blister keeps each tablet or capsule sealed in its own cavity until that dose is pressed out, and it presents your product in a printed carton instead of a labelled bottle. What that gives the product:
- One dose opened at a time. Pressing out a tablet or capsule breaks one cavity; the rest stay sealed until their turn. In a bottle, every dose left inside shares one opened container.
- Opening shows. A pierced cavity cannot be closed again, so a missing or opened dose is visible.
- The count is in plain sight. The doses left on a card can be counted without opening anything.
- Easy to carry. One card can leave the carton for a trip or a working day while the rest of the pack stays at home.
How much moisture and oxygen a cavity keeps out depends on the film. The Uhlmann B 1240 is built to run PVC, PVC/PVDC, PVC/PCTFE and cold-formed aluminium. The B 1240 forms, fills, seals and cuts the blisters in one pass, and an IMA IC 150 puts the cards into the printed carton: see blister packing.
How does a white label order run, step by step?
An order moves through seven steps, and the batch is made only after you have approved the sample and the label and carton artwork.
- Enquiry. Tell us the format, whether you want a ready-made formula or one of your own, the quantity and the country of sale. The range of ready-made formulas is outlined on Products. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
- Sample. For a ready-made formula you receive a sample of the existing product; a formula of your own is first developed into a sample.
- Approval. You approve the sample, then the artwork for the label and the carton, which the plant designs for your brand. Printing starts once you have approved the final version. Your own artwork or packaging can be used on request.
- Production. A ready-made formula is produced from 2 weeks, a formula of your own from 4 weeks. A blister run with a printed carton takes 6 to 10 weeks.
- Blister and carton. Tablets, capsules and softgels ordered in blisters are sealed under lidding foil printed for your brand on an Uhlmann B 1240 and cartoned on an IMA IC 150, 1 to 4 blisters to a carton; other products go into their bottles, tubes, doy-packs or sachets.
- Documents. The batch is dispatched with its Certificate of Analysis and specification; copies of the site certificates are sent on request.
- Delivery. EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request. Shipping time is added to the production time and depends on where your warehouse is.
White label or your own formula: what does the product decide?
The product decides the route: white label when one of the formulas in production already has the composition you want to sell, and a formula developed for your brand when it does not. Outside the blister, white label is also the shorter and smaller route. In a blister, both routes start from the same run of 2,000 cartons, with production in 6 to 10 weeks. Each route has a price, counted in time, quantity and risk rather than money:
White label, a ready-made formula
- Time: production from 2 weeks, with no development stage before it.
- Quantity: from 100 units in stock packaging.
- Risk: a ready-made formula is not reserved for one client, so the composition alone will not set your product apart.
Private label, a formula of your own
- Time: production from 4 weeks, after a sample has been developed and approved.
- Quantity: from 500 bottles per product (white label from 100 units in stock packaging), so more stock is committed before the first sales show how the product does.
- Risk: the larger first order and the development stage both come before any sale. See private label supplements.
A blister, on either route
- Time: production in 6 to 10 weeks.
- Quantity: from 2,000 cartons, at least 4,000 blisters, with 1 to 4 blisters in each carton.
- Risk: the tablet or capsule has to match the blister tooling in place; a blister of your own design, or another size, starts from 25,000 cartons or 50,000 blisters.
In a blister, the formula also sets the layout: a larger tablet or capsule needs a larger cavity, fewer doses fit on one card, and the carton changes with the card.
Can a white label brand sell in Africa and Arab markets?
We deliver to both regions, but whether the product can go on sale there is settled by its registration or notification in the country of sale, and that step falls to you as the brand owner or to your importer. The manufacturing group behind HYPERPHARM exports to 42 countries and already supplies many clients in Africa; the Middle East is among its main markets. For the registration file we provide the Certificate of Analysis and the specification of each batch, and copies of the site certificates on request. Halal certification is arranged for the specific product rather than for the plant as a whole.
The label and the carton are laid out to the labelling rules of the country of sale, which your importer confirms.
Packaging for heat and humidity: blister packaging for hot and humid climates; WHO stability conditions by country: climatic zones by country.
Questions about white label supplements
What is the minimum order for a white label supplement?
A ready-made formula starts from 100 units in stock packaging, and a formula of your own from 500 bottles per product. Powders, sachets, sports nutrition, syrups and oils have their minimums in kilograms or litres; ask us for the figure for your format. A blister run with a printed carton starts from 2,000 cartons, at least 4,000 blisters.
Can I get a white label supplement in blister packs?
Yes, when it is made as tablets, capsules or softgels and the tablet or capsule fits the tooling in place; another size starts from 25,000 cartons or 50,000 blisters. The doses are sealed on an Uhlmann B 1240 under lidding foil printed for your brand and cartoned on an IMA IC 150, 1 to 4 blisters to a carton printed for your brand. A blister run starts from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks.
How long does a white label order take?
Production takes from 2 weeks for a ready-made formula, against from 4 weeks for a formula of your own. A blister run with a printed carton takes 6 to 10 weeks. Shipping time is separate and varies with the destination and the delivery term you choose.
Can I see a sample before I order?
Yes. For a ready-made formula you receive a sample of the existing product before you place the order, so you judge the product itself rather than a description of it.
Do you design and print the label and the carton?
Yes. The label and the carton are designed and printed at the plant for your brand, after you approve the artwork. On a blister product the lidding foil is printed for your brand as well. Your own artwork, or your own packaging, can be used on request.
What documents come with each batch?
A Certificate of Analysis and a specification come with every batch. Production is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, with a scope covering tablets, capsules and powders, and registered with the US FDA as a food facility. Copies of the certificates with their numbers are sent to clients on request.
What shelf life does a white label product have?
The standard shelf life is 24 months. On a blister product the expiry date is on the carton.
Will another brand sell the same formula?
It can. A ready-made formula is not reserved for one client, so the composition alone will not set your product apart.
Do you register the product in my country?
No. Registering or notifying the product where it is sold falls to you as the brand owner, or to your importer. For that file we provide the Certificate of Analysis and the specification of each batch, and copies of the site certificates on request.
Where do you deliver, and on what terms?
Worldwide. EXW is the default term, and FCA or DAP can be agreed on request; the term you choose sets where responsibility for the goods passes to you. Shipping time is separate from production.
Can I visit the plant before ordering?
Yes. Mention the visit in your enquiry and we agree a date with you.
Can a white label product be halal certified?
Halal certification is arranged for the specific product rather than for the plant as a whole, so it depends on the formula you pick. Name the certification you need in your enquiry.
