Which zinc supplements can I put under my own brand?

Eight example zinc formulas are listed: five tablets and three capsules. Your brand takes a formula as listed, or we change the doses to your specification. Amounts are those printed per tablet or capsule unless the table says otherwise; where a formula has two strengths, both are shown. The full composition, with excipients, is sent on request.

What zinc strengths and salts can I get in a private label tablet?

Zinc as gluconate, 25 mg per tablet, is the single zinc tablet on the list, and the combinations carry zinc from 10 mg as printed. Name the strength you want in the enquiry, and our reply says whether it is a listed strength or one of your own.

Another salt, such as citrate or bisglycinate, is a formula of your own: the enquiry names the salt, our reply confirms it, and a sample is developed first. A listed formula goes to your brand as it is, or with the doses changed to your specification; the rights to a formula developed for you are set in the contract.

Zinc tablet or zinc capsule: which goes into a blister?

Both go into blisters, whatever the size. Tooling is in place on the Uhlmann B 1240 for six tablet sizes and three capsule sizes: ovals of 22 × 10, 20 × 9.5 and 16 × 8 mm, rounds of 13, 12 and 11 mm, and capsules of size 0 long, 0 and 00. Capsules are gelatine or vegan HPMC.

A tablet or capsule outside those sizes goes into a blister as well: a forming set is made for it, and its time and price are confirmed in our reply. Which blister film suits zinc tablets?

PVC, PVC/PVDC and cold-formed aluminium (alu-alu) are offered, and the film is confirmed in our reply once we have the formula and the unit size. Two things decide it: how readily the formula takes up moisture, and how deep the cavity must be.

On the Uhlmann B 1240 the cavity can be up to 24 mm deep in PVC and up to 10 mm in aluminium, so the film and the cavity are chosen together. PVC/PVDC adds barrier to PVC, and alu-alu is the highest-barrier class of the three. A sample of your own product in the film is the check that matters; the figures and sources are on blister films.

How do I show the zinc dose and %NRV on the label?

Print the zinc per daily portion in milligrams and, next to it, the percentage of the nutrient reference value. For zinc the EU reference value is 10 mg, set in Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex XIII, Part A, so the percentage is the amount divided by 10 mg:

The portion is the one your carton recommends for a day, so the same tablet shows a different figure on a carton that says two tablets than on one that says one. That is why the calcium, magnesium, zinc and D3 tablet is shown at two strengths: zinc 15 mg (150% NRV) per tablet, and 30 mg (300% NRV) as printed for the serving. The declaration sits on the carton, and you approve the artwork before print.

What is the maximum zinc dose I can sell in my country?

EU maximum amounts for minerals in food supplements are provided for in Article 5 of Directive 2002/46/EC, and until they are set, member states apply national limits; outside the EU the authority of each market sets them. Your importer confirms the limit for the target market before the artwork is approved, and the strength on the carton follows it.

Can the zinc carton be printed in Arabic or French, and can it be halal?

Yes to both. The label and carton are laid out and printed in the language of the country of sale, to its rules, and a printed leaflet goes into the carton, to your artwork. Steps: Arabic and French packaging.

Halal certification is arranged for each batch of your product when your market asks for it, by one of two routes: a certification company visits and issues the certificate, or an auditor is present while the batch is made. What is the minimum order for private label zinc, and how long does it take?

A blister run starts from 2,000 cartons printed for your brand, with at least 4,000 blisters, and takes 6 to 10 weeks of production, on a listed formula or on your own. Shipping is added. A repeat order has the same minimum as the first.

What documents come with each batch of zinc tablets?

Each batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and a specification. The carton carries the batch number, the production date and the expiry date; shelf life is 24 months as standard. Copies of the site certificates (ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP; FDA registered), with their numbers, go to clients on request.

How do I get a sample of a private label zinc tablet?

Send an enquiry with your shortlisted formulas, the form, the quantity and the country of sale. For a ready-made formula you receive a sample of the existing product before you order, and we reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday. The sample shows the real size of the unit. Then comes approval of label and carton artwork, production, sealing on the Uhlmann B 1240, cartoning on the IMA IC 150, and delivery EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request.
