In Nigeria the importing company, registered there, files the registration with NAFDAC. We supply the manufacturer's documents for the file: the Certificate of Analysis and specification, copies of the plant's certificates, the Certificate of Free Sale and the Certificate of Manufacture, and the consular certification that the Nigerian Embassy or High Commission asks for.

Can I get private label or white label supplements made for Nigeria?

Yes. White label uses one of more than 500 ready-made formulas, with new ones added every month; private label is made to your own formula. Both can go into a blister with a printed carton or into bottles, tubes, pouches and sachets.

In stock packaging, a ready-made formula starts from 100 units, with production from 2 weeks; your own formula starts from 500 bottles per product, with production from 4 weeks. Full figures by format are on the minimum order page and the lead times page.

The plant lays out and prints the label and the carton, or prints from your artwork. Delivery is worldwide, EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request, and a sample goes out before an order. The plant holds ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates; copies with their numbers are sent on request. When your market asks for halal, it is arranged for each batch, by a certification body or by a halal auditor present at production (halal supplements).

What is the minimum order for blister packaging with my brand?

A blister run starts from 2,000 cartons and at least 4,000 blisters, with a ready-made formula or your own, and production takes 6 to 10 weeks. Each carton holds 1 to 4 blisters, one kind of tablet or capsule per blister, and the lidding foil is printed with your brand. With one blister per carton, 4,000 cartons reach the blister minimum.

Tablets and capsules are sealed on an Uhlmann B 1240 and cartoned on an IMA IC 150. More on tablets in blisters and capsules in blisters.

Who registers a supplement with NAFDAC?

Your importer in Nigeria. NAFDAC's guideline for imported herbal remedies and dietary supplements says none may be manufactured, imported, exported, advertised, sold or distributed in Nigeria unless registered, and it asks for evidence that the applicant is incorporated in Nigeria. The brand owner and the importer prepare the application; we supply the manufacturer's side of the file. The approval is NAFDAC's decision.

The guideline's five steps are documentation, an import permit after which labels are vetted, laboratory samples, an approval meeting and a notification of registration. It gives 120 working days from acceptance of the submission to the registration number, and closes an application whose queries go unanswered for 90 working days. Advertising needs its own permit after registration. The guideline is dated 2018 with a 2023 review date, so ask NAFDAC for the current text before you plan a launch.

What does NAFDAC ask the supplement manufacturer for?

From the manufacturing side the guideline lists the following; next to each item is what we supply for it.

  • Certificate of Manufacture and Free Sale, authenticated by the Nigerian Embassy or High Commission. We arrange the Certificate of Free Sale, the Certificate of Manufacture and the consular legalisation. See export documents.
  • GMP certificate, also authenticated by the Nigerian mission. The plant's ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certificates are available as copies with their numbers; your importer confirms which GMP certificate NAFDAC accepts for the file.
  • Comprehensive Certificate of Analysis, with the brand name, batch number, manufacturing and expiry dates and the analyst's signature. A Certificate of Analysis and a specification come with every batch; send NAFDAC's list with your enquiry and our reply confirms how it is covered.
  • Power of attorney or contract manufacturing agreement, notarised in the country of manufacture, valid for at least five years where it is a power of attorney.
  • Letter inviting a GMP inspection of the factory. A visit to the plant is possible; name any NAFDAC inspection in your enquiry and we confirm the arrangement in our reply.
  • Colour artwork and a leaflet insert. The carton is printed to your artwork, and a printed leaflet goes into the carton to your artwork.

Which language goes on a carton for Nigeria?

English. Nigeria's Drug Labelling Regulations 2005, written for drugs and related products, want all information in English, and a US TTB page on Nigerian import rules, written for processed food, permits stick-on labels that meet NAFDAC requirements provided they do not come off easily. It also suggests writing the month in words, since Nigeria puts the day first.

The carton shows the batch number, the production date and the expiry date, and standard shelf life is 24 months. Send the artwork or let the plant lay it out to the label rules NAFDAC gives your importer. For other markets in your range see Arabic and French packaging.

Is a supplement a medicine in Nigeria, and does a blister change that?

The word blister does not appear in the NAFDAC guideline, and a supplement is judged on its claims and contents, as it would be in a bottle. NAFDAC acts on hidden drug substances. In Public Alert 013/2026 of 8 March 2026 it reported capsules sold online as a dietary supplement that contained undeclared tadalafil and sildenafil, and called them unapproved drugs.

For your brand that means a clean carton: no disease statement on the carton, foil or website, and no active substance outside the declared formula. A third-party accredited laboratory can test for prohibited substances, which we arrange on request, with the report in your brand's name. What papers does a supplement shipment need at the Nigerian port?

The Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) comes before the goods arrive; the US International Trade Administration names it, with the Single Window Portal, as a critical tool in Nigeria's import process. The filing sits on your importer's side, and your importer confirms who files; the shipment travels with the batch documents we supply. NAFDAC registration is a separate step from the PAAR. See pre-arrival filings for Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya.

For the customs code, the UK Trade Tariff sends tablets and capsules intended as food supplements to heading 2106; the code that counts is the one in the tariff of the country where the goods are cleared, which your customs broker confirms (HS code for food supplements). Delivery terms are EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request; import clearance and duties stay with the buyer under all three.

Do blisters suit Nigeria's heat and humidity?

WHO's list gives Nigeria a long-term condition of 30 °C/75% RH, zone IVb. In a blister each dose stays sealed in its own cavity until it is pushed out, and how much moisture reaches it depends on the film: PVC, PVC/PVDC and cold-formed aluminium (alu-alu) are offered as options for your product, and the film is confirmed in our reply; see blister packaging for hot and humid markets and climatic zones by country. Other markets in the region are on the West Africa and Africa pages.

Is there a European supplement manufacturer that makes private label products for Nigeria?

Yes. HYPERPHARM is a European manufacturer, made in the EU, with white label from more than 500 ready-made formulas and private label from your own formula. Tablets, capsules and softgels can be sealed in blisters with a carton printed for your brand, from 2,000 cartons.

A Certificate of Manufacture and Free Sale and a GMP certificate, both authenticated by the Nigerian Embassy or High Commission; a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis; a notarised power of attorney or contract manufacturing agreement; and a letter inviting a GMP inspection. Nigeria is not listed as a party to the Apostille Convention in the HCCH table of 30 June 2026. NAFDAC asks for certification by the Nigerian Embassy or High Commission, and we arrange the consular legalisation.

What storage condition does WHO list for Nigeria?

30 °C/75% RH, which corresponds to zone IVb, collected from national regulators at the ICDRA conference of 2008. The list is written for medicines; NAFDAC's supplement guideline names no zone.

What is the PAAR for a shipment to Nigeria?

The Pre-Arrival Assessment Report, which comes before the goods arrive and belongs to import clearance. NAFDAC registers the product in a separate step. The filing sits on your importer's side, and your importer confirms who files; the shipment travels with our batch documents.

Which delivery terms do you ship under to Nigeria?

EXW by default, with FCA or DAP on request. Under Incoterms 2020, EXW leaves export clearance to the buyer, and under FCA and DAP the seller clears the goods for export. Import clearance and duties stay with the buyer under all three.
