Private label supplements: your own formula, sealed in blisters under your brand

HYPERPHARM develops your formula, seals the tablets, capsules or softgels in blisters and prints your carton. A blister run with a carton printed for your brand starts from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks; each carton holds 1 to 4 blisters. Every batch ships with its Certificate of Analysis and specification.

Private label on this page means a formula developed for your brand from your brief or your specification. A blister run can carry that formula or one already in production. Outside the blister, your own formula starts from 500 bottles per product, with production from 4 weeks, and a ready-made formula from 100 units in stock packaging, with production from 2 weeks. If a formula already in production will do for a first run, the route is white label supplements.

What is the difference between private label and white label?

With private label the formula is developed for your brand; with white label, a formula we already produce goes out under your label. In a blister, both routes start from the same minimum: 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks.

Outside the blister, the routes differ. A ready-made formula is already specified and in production (there are more than 500 of them), so it starts from 100 units in stock packaging, with production from 2 weeks. A formula of your own needs a sample round first, starts from 500 bottles per product and has production from 4 weeks.

White label suits a market test or a first product where the composition itself is not what sets you apart. Private label suits a product whose actives, doses or format are the reason a customer picks it over what is already on the shelf.

Minimums and production times for every format: minimum order quantity and lead times.

How does our formula get from a brief to a sealed blister?

In seven steps, and the batch is made only after you have approved both the sample and the label and carton artwork.

  1. Enquiry. Write to us with the format, whether the formula is your own or one already in production, the quantity and the country of sale. We reply within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.
  2. Sample. For your own formula, we develop a sample from your brief; for a ready-made formula, you receive a sample of the existing product.
  3. Approval. You approve the sample first. We then design the label and the carton for your brand, or check the artwork you already have, and nothing is printed until you approve the final version.
  4. Production. A blister run takes 6 to 10 weeks. Outside the blister, production takes from 4 weeks for your own formula and from 2 weeks for a ready-made one. Transit to you is counted separately.
  5. Blister and carton. Tablets, capsules or softgels are sealed in blisters on an Uhlmann B 1240, under lidding foil printed for your brand, and an IMA IC 150 puts 1 to 4 blisters into each printed carton. The expiry date goes on the carton.
  6. Documents. Each batch leaves with its Certificate of Analysis and specification.
  7. Delivery. We deliver worldwide: EXW by default, FCA or DAP on request.

Every step in detail: how an order runs.

What blister and carton sizes can the machines take?

By the machine documentation, the Uhlmann B 1240 has a forming area of up to 128 × 156.5 mm per cycle and forms cavities up to 24 mm deep in PVC (thermoforming); cold-formed aluminium cavities are shallower. By the same documentation, the IMA IC 150 cartoner takes cartons from 28 × 12 × 55 to 92 × 60 × 190 mm.

The B 1240 forms the cavities, fills them, seals the lidding and cuts the blister out in a single pass, and Uhlmann rates it at up to 250 blisters a minute. Its documentation also lists a TouchControl panel with password access and a log of machine parameters: a record of the settings the machine ran with. The IC 150 is an intermittent-motion cartoner: it puts the blisters into the printed carton and closes it.

For the B 1240, the plant has blister tooling for oval tablets of 22 × 10, 20 × 9.5 and 16 × 8 mm, round tablets of 13, 12 and 11 mm, and capsules of size 0 long (0EL), 0 and 00. Each carton holds 1 to 4 blisters. A blister of your own design, or a tablet or capsule of another size, is made on request from 25,000 cartons or 50,000 blisters, with terms agreed per project.

How the line runs: blister packing and equipment.

Which blister films can the line run?

The Uhlmann B 1240 is built to run PVC, PVC/PVDC, PVC/PCTFE and cold-formed aluminium, with heat-seal aluminium or paper lidding. That list describes what the machine is built for.

Plain PVC is the clear base film. PVC/PVDC (PVC with a PVDC coating) and PVC/PCTFE (PVC laminated with PCTFE film) let less moisture through than plain PVC, and the blister stays transparent. Cold-formed aluminium, with aluminium in the cavity and in the lidding, keeps out light and almost all moisture and oxygen; the tablets cannot be seen, and the cavities take more room, so a blister of the same size holds fewer of them.

Do you supply clients in hot and humid markets?

Yes. The manufacturing group behind HYPERPHARM already supplies many clients in Africa, and its main markets are the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon; in all, the group exports to 42 countries. These are the group's figures, not those of HYPERPHARM OÜ, the company registered in 2019 that owns this site.

In a blister each tablet or capsule stays sealed in its own cavity until that dose is pressed out, and a card travels in a pocket or a bag without opening the doses left on it. How much moisture a cavity keeps out over the shelf life depends on the film; for a given climate, the evidence is stability data.

Where the country of sale requires the product to be registered, that step belongs to you as the brand owner, or to your importer; we do not file it. For that file we supply the specification and the Certificate of Analysis of each batch. Halal certification is arranged for the specific product rather than for the plant as a whole.

The carton and the label are laid out for the country of sale, to the rules your importer confirms for it.

More on climate and the blister: blister packaging for hot and humid climates.

What documents and certificates come with the product?

Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and a product specification.

The plant is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified, with a scope covering tablets, capsules and powders, and it is registered with the US FDA as a food facility. Copies of the certificates with their numbers are sent to clients on request. The standard shelf life is 24 months, and the expiry date is printed on the carton: with the carton itself, or as the blisters are packed into it.

Certificates and batch documents in detail: quality.

Which choices does the product make for you, and what does each one cost?

Several decisions are taken by the formula and the market before preference comes into it. Each has a price, counted here in time, quantity and risk rather than money.

  • Your own formula or a ready-made one. In a blister, both start from 2,000 cartons. Outside the blister, a ready-made formula starts from 100 units in stock packaging, with production from 2 weeks; the price is that you take its composition as it is, and the same formula can be on sale under other brand names. Your own formula is developed for your brand from your brief; it costs a sample round before production, a minimum of 500 bottles per product and production from 4 weeks.
  • Tablet or capsule. The blend decides: a powder that will not press into a stable tablet goes into a capsule, and a dose too large for one unit becomes a serving of two. In a blister, every extra unit per serving takes one more cavity, so each card holds fewer servings. Delayed-release tablets and capsules are made on request.
  • Size of the unit. A large tablet or capsule needs a larger cavity, so fewer fit on one blister. Blister tooling is in place for oval tablets of 22 × 10, 20 × 9.5 and 16 × 8 mm, round tablets of 13, 12 and 11 mm, and capsules of size 0 long (0EL), 0 and 00. A tablet or capsule of another size, or a blister of your own design, costs a larger run: from 25,000 cartons or 50,000 blisters, with terms agreed per project.
  • Bottle or blister. A blister brings in what a bottle does not need: a forming film, a cavity tool and a printed carton, each one more thing to agree before production. In return each dose stays sealed in its own cavity until it is pressed out, an opened cavity cannot be closed again, the doses left can be counted at a glance, and the lidding foil carries your brand. The cost is in quantity and time: a blister run starts from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks.
  • The market. The country of sale decides what the carton has to say, which documents the importer asks for and whether the product needs halal certification. Where the product has to be registered there, that step is yours as the brand owner, and its time runs on top of production.

Questions buyers ask about private label in blisters

Can you manufacture our own formula and deliver it in blisters under our brand?

Yes. HYPERPHARM develops the formula from your brief, produces it as tablets, capsules or softgels, seals them in blisters on an Uhlmann B 1240 under lidding foil printed for your brand, and cartons the blisters on an IMA IC 150, 1 to 4 to a carton designed and printed for your brand. A blister run starts from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters), with production in 6 to 10 weeks. You approve the sample and the artwork before production, and each batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and a specification.

What is the minimum order for our own formula?

In a blister with a carton printed for your brand, from 2,000 cartons (at least 4,000 blisters); a ready-made formula in a blister starts from the same minimum. Outside the blister, your own formula starts from 500 bottles per product, and a ready-made formula from 100 units in stock packaging. Minimums for the other formats are.

How long until the first batch is ready?

A blister run takes 6 to 10 weeks of production. Outside the blister, production takes from 4 weeks for your own formula and from 2 weeks for a ready-made one. Production begins once you have approved the sample and the artwork, and transit to your warehouse is counted separately, by the delivery terms you choose.

Will we see a sample before production?

Yes. Your formula is first made into a sample, and production starts only after you approve it. The sample also shows you the size and look of the tablet or capsule that will go into the blister.

Who designs the carton and the label?

HYPERPHARM designs the label and the blister carton for your brand and prints them at the plant, and the lidding foil of the blister is printed for your brand too. If you already have artwork, we check it; if you have your own packaging, it can be used on request. Printing follows your approval of the final artwork.

Which blister films can the Uhlmann B 1240 run?

The Uhlmann B 1240 is built to run PVC, PVC/PVDC, PVC/PCTFE and cold-formed aluminium, with heat-seal aluminium or paper lidding. That is the range of the machine.

What does a blister change for a hot and humid market?

Each tablet or capsule stays sealed in its own cavity until that dose is pressed out, so opening one dose leaves the others closed. How much moisture a cavity keeps out over the shelf life depends on the film, and the evidence for a given climate is stability data. More: blister packaging for hot and humid climates.

What documents come with each batch?

Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis and a product specification. The standard shelf life is 24 months, with the expiry date printed on the carton. The plant is ISO 22000, GMP and HACCP certified and FDA registered; copies of the certificates with their numbers are sent to clients on request.

Can you register the product in our country?

No. Registering the product in the country of sale is a step for the brand owner, or for the importer acting for it, and HYPERPHARM does not file it. For that file we supply the specification and the Certificate of Analysis of each batch.

Can the product be halal certified?

Halal certification is arranged for the specific product rather than for the plant as a whole, so the answer depends on your formula. Raise it in your enquiry if your market requires it.

Where do you deliver, and on what terms?

HYPERPHARM delivers worldwide. The default term is EXW, and FCA or DAP is available on request.

Can we visit the plant?

Yes. A visit to the plant can be arranged; propose a time in your enquiry.
